Sorting out your life starts with the simple things, rest & nutrition.

Koala Mattress blogger review.

Welleco Super Elixir review.

Two things have been lacking in my life for quite some time now. Teleportation & food synthesisers.. but that’s not really what this is about. What I was supposed to say was, proper nutrition & proper sleep.

& I mean proper.

For my entire life, I’ve been running on about 4 – 5 hours of sleep every. single. day. Combine that with an Asian mother who cooks unhealthy asian food every second day & you have one giant mess of a life & about ten kilos of saturated fat hanging out at your waistline.

So this year, I decided (that I didn’t really want to die by age 30 &) to change that by sorting out those two areas of my life. With WelleCo’s #SuperElixirChallenge & a new sleeping environment, I feel as though I’m already three quarters of the way there.

Don’t worry. I definitely don’t eat jam & biscuits for breakfast. Well not since last year anyway..

In an effort to stop myself complaining about my bad eating habits, I decided to do something about it with the help of WelleCo & Elle McPherson’s Super Elixir by participating in the Super Elixir Challenge.

I tried it a while ago at a party & while I thought the idea was super awesome & interesting, I didn’t feel any amazing effects. Then, I started drinking it daily & let’s just say, this odd-smelling green powder isn’t hyped up for nothing. After about a week, I noticed I had more energy (more than I already have) but at the same time, I wasn’t feeling sluggish during that time of the day when you just want to curl up on the sofa with Friends & a jar of candy. I was actually finishing my workouts at the gym & stopped craving almost all kinds of crap.

I had heard a lot of people say it tastes terrible but I actually like the “green” kind of beachy (that’s the only way I can describe it) taste in my smoothie. But that could just be the spinach I put in it too.

How to be healthy.

& when I say, get a new sleeping environment, I don’t mean move house. Or set up camp in the amazonian jungle. I mean, clean your bedroom out. All of it.

Once it’s empty, start by getting rid of all the things you don’t need. It also doesn’t hurt to apply this to the rest of your living environment either. I have a super tiny home so I didn’t really have much choice but to only have the things I needed in there. We used to have a television in our room (which drove me crazy when my partner would watch tv whenever I was trying to sleep) so we decided that when we moved, we wouldn’t have one in our bedroom.

After you’ve sorted out what you do & don’t need. Put the things you’ve decided to keep, back into your room with a strategy. Everything should have it’s own place & it should stay there. But if you’re as hopeless as me, then I highly recommend Marie Kondo’s book The Life-Changing Magic Of Tidying Up which even explains how to fold your clothing.

& here comes the most important part of a bedroom.

The mattress.

I didn’t realise how much a mattress can affect your sleep, mood, posture, allergies, stress. The list goes on. For a bit anyway.

& if you’re tossing & turning all night, it’s a pretty good sign you need a new one.

Koala Mattress kindly sent me one of theirs to try out & for someone who runs on a few hours of sleep a day, this thing has been a complete sleep-godsend. For one, you can jump on it with a glass of wine without the wine falling over so that’s a reason in itself to get one.

& yes, the zero disturbance is totally legit (if you didn’t get that from the video below) – my partner & I were turning over from side to side injecting an intermittent “can you feel that?!?” with each turn. Quite a bizarre sensation since you can hear the other person move but can’t feel it. Put that together with a cloud-like mattress & it’s almost as if you’re high.

& the best part about buying a Koala Mattress (besides the wine in bed of course) is that you adopt a real, live koala which you can visit any time at the koala hospital in Port Macquarie! So essentially,  you’re saving your back & helping a furry friend who loves sleeping just as much as you.

    • Wow! I commend you! I get really sluggish if I sleep too much. You must feel super refreshed after a ten hour sleep haha

  • Omg what a babe of a mattress, I am speechless. When I opened up your blog, and saw the first picture, I already thought that mattress was such a fine-looking one. I watched that vid two times hahaha. What sorcery is this? Urgh, and you also get to help a cute koala? Wow! I enjoyed reading this post and am excited for your Elixir challenge. I have a thing for eating or drinking green things as somehow it makes me feel better from the inside. LOL. I’m starting to eat broccoli daily now in a bid to get better skin/hair so it’s really motivating to see you’re on your self-care journey. Make your mom join you, heheh 😀 xoxo

    • My mom’s an old fashioned asian. Any health related topics that aren’t to do with Chinese herbal medicine are a waste of time haha

  • I’m impressed you can function on so little sleep! I’m only getting a broken 4 hours a night and it’s killing me, hoping that the boys go back to sleeping normally once the heatwave passes! 🙂

Hope you have a great weekend 🙂

Seriously loving the post babe! I don’t know how you’ve functioned on 4-5 hours of sleep everyday! That’s so crazy. I was doing that a couple nights a week last year and one of my resolutions was to get more sleep because my health (and appearance =P) was seriously suffering! I break out now in places I never have if I don’t get enough sleep it’s super frustrating!
